Historically, I’m not into New Year Resolutions. If I see something I want to do, to change, to become; then I usually jump into it any time of year. A recent reread of Atomic Habits by James Clear has me all fired up and I wanted to share especially since some of you are embarking up New Year’s Resolutions.

  • Habits are the compound interest of self-improvement. The idea that I can make small changes that over time could have a big impact

  • You do not rise to the level of your goals. You will rise to the level of your systems.

  • Make it easy. It is so much easier to get up in the morning and go for a run when I have set my clothes out the night before and set the coffee maker.

  • Never miss twice!

  • Join a culture. Yes, we all need a Tribe. And I like the idea of surrounding yourself with like couple of like-minded people.

Obviously, my takeaways are just that, they are mine and resonated with me. This is a great read whether you decide to read it old school with a hardcover, kindle, or listen to it in the car as an audiobook. I’d love to know what really sticks with you.
